NAD+ Client Injection Guide
How do I take this medication?
NAD+ is given as a subcutaneous injection into the fatty tissue just under the skin. Use only the dose and schedule your provider or pharmacy label gave you.
This guide is a quick reference for preparing the syringe, choosing a healthy injection site, and disposing of used sharps safely at home.
Before you inject
- Wash your hands and work on a clean surface with good lighting.
- Gather your vial, syringe, alcohol swab, gauze or tissue if needed, and a sharps container.
- Check the medication label and make sure the vial, cap, and syringe packaging are intact before use.
Healthy injection sites
- Belly, staying at least 2 inches away from your belly button.
- Front outer thigh.
- Upper arm if you can safely reach the back of the arm.
- Rotate injection sites and avoid skin that is red, bruised, scarred, hard, or tender.
When should I pause and call my provider?
- If you are unsure about how much to draw up or when to take the next dose.
- If the vial looks damaged, the label does not match your plan, or something about the medication seems unusual.
- If the injection site becomes increasingly red, swollen, painful, warm, or develops red streaks.
Tips
- Clean your skin with alcohol and let it dry before injecting.
- Use a new needle and syringe each time.
- Rotate your injection site each time.
- If you miss or want to change a dose, check with your provider first.
- Follow local community sharps disposal rules when your container is ready for disposal.
